WHO WE ARE

ZAMOYONI SELESTINE - Office Manager
Zamo is the Office Manager of the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project. He is a member of the Hehe tribe from the Iringa region in the southern part of Tanzania. Zamo came to the Kilimanjaro region in 1985 where he grew up and took his studies. He has been with the Project since its inception in 2002, and works closely with volunteers.
He is the primary liaison with the porters and has come to understand their situation intimately. He also conducts the English language and First Aid classes for the porters. Zamo has climbed  Kilimanjaro through the Rongai and Machame Routes and plans to climb all of the routes.

KAREN VALENTI- Program Manager
Karen is from Denver, Colorado in the U.S., and has been with the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project since 2004. As the Program Manager, her major focus is to educate climbers, particularly at the gates of Kilimanjaro National Park. 
Karen also coordinates the Day-Trips and Homestay Programs as well as the Teach-in-Kilimanjaro Volunteer Program
She has Bachelors degrees in Biology and Physical Therapy as well as a Masters degree in Nonprofit Management. Karen previously served as a volunteer in Moshi with Visions in Action in 2002-2003 and worked as a Peace Corps volunteer in Antigua from 1990-1992.
